Eileen, Granny
Eileen lives near Chester and has been married for 39 years. She loves knitting all things, especially Aran garments and also enjoys designing baby clothes. Apart from knitting Eileen's hobbies are reading, antiques, walking and cooking. Like most of us, she loves going on holiday, especially to the Greek Islands, and very good white wine. Her claim to fame is, wait for it, that she once knitted a jumper for NOEL EDMONDS! Classic.
She hates coconut with a vengeance - seriously, she can't stand it. |

Sarah, Granny
Sarah is from York and although she is not a real life granny, she is definitely a Grannies, Inc. granny. She recently became a Great Aunt and is thinking of taking on Miss Marple as a role model!
Knitting is her number one hobby but she does managed to find the time for a touch of reading and yoga. She has nearly achieved the splits (ouch) but the headstand still eludes her.
One of her greatest knitting achievements was a beautiful intarsia sweater which took so long to make that it was out of style by the time it was finished! |

Paulette, Granny
Paulette was born and bred on the tiny Island of Alderney in the Channel Islands where her mum taught her to knit, crochet and loom knit from an early age.
She loves knitting for her 6 grandchildren and always has a list of knitwear to make that never seems to go down. On top of that, she finds the time to knit for design students and loves being the first to see emerging knitwear fashions.
Paulette hates loud music, although she does grin and bear it when the grandchildren turn it up or her partner bangs a tune out on his guitar. She believes time is precious and loves relaxing and having fun on days out with the grandchildren, however tiring they can be! |

Geraldine, Granny
Geraldine has been married for 31 years with 2 grown up children. Her hobbies are knitting (naturally), baking, gardening and wildlife. She lives in Basingstoke in house that backs onto fields where deer are free to roam around.
Geraldine knits almost anything, as long as there is no mohair involved. That's right, nothing from the hair of the Angora goat. Nor does she knit 4ply or lower - if it's not chunky, it's not worth doing. She loves knitting baby clothes and, of course, beanies. |
 |
Marian, Granny
Marian was born in southern England but has lived in Scotland most of her life. She enjoys knitting and is a lost sheep without something to knit. Marian was taught to knit by her own Grandmother back in her primary school days and in the past has knitted in Cashmere for a well known company. She does not like knitting Aran wear (thick jersey wear which was, for many centuries, worn only by the farming and fishing population of the Aran islands off the west coast of Connemara in Ireland). Apart than Aran, she's not fussy. She'll knit anything from tiny 1 ply upwards.
If you catch Marian without knitting needles in her hands she'll either be enjoying her retirement in the garden with a trowel or have her nose in a book.

Denise, Granny
Denise has been married for a magical thirty four years now and has 3 grown up boys and four grandchildren. Can't imagine how big her Christmas turkey must be!
For the past 30 years or so she has been knitting her heart out for all kinds of people including Patricia Roberts in the 70s and well known knitting brand, Sirdar. More recently she's gone international, knitting for a customer in Hong Kong, as well as keeping it closer to home and knitting for a local knitting shop in Norfolk. One busy lady. |

Katie Mowat, Founder
Katie has an obvious passion for beanies. She reckons she's had over 100 different beanies of all styles, colours and materials and can be found wearing one from the depths of winter to the midst of summer. She absolutely loves skiing and is always keen to make a statement on the slopes. With limited funds for new ski-wear each season, she soon decided that the easiest and most cost-effective way of keeping up to date was to go with the right beanie. But, after extensive shopping, she always found she needed to match her outfit with the beanie rather than being able to match the beanie to the outfit. Something wasn't quite right.
Then, her problems were solved during a year abroad in California. Since it was discovered that Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz were partial to a bit of knitting a craze had swept across the Golden State. She soon realised that whatever colour her salopettes, whichever festival wellies she bought she could always design and knit a beanie to match. She has made her own beanies ever since. |
